Good command of language. The child has to understand and express himself well and pronounce correctly.

Adequate psychomotor development. You must understand concepts like before and after. You must also control concepts such as up, down, right, and left. The handling of your hand - fine motor skills - should allow you to reproduce strokes, controlling the pressure on the pencil. 

At the affective level, you must be motivated. Learning to read requires significant effort. You have to pay attention, repeat, and repeat. At this age, many children show that commitment.
